Cette famille de Bretagne, dont la Chenays-Desbois donne la filiation depuis Michel Picot, issue au sixième degré d'Olivier Picot, nommé dans deux rôles des montres et revues générales des Nobles et sujets aux armes de l'archidiaconé de Dinan, de 1477 à 1479, a formé plusieurs branches. L'une d'elles a figuré dans les assemblées de la Noblesse du Périgord aux États-Généraux de 1789, et parmi les votants pour les députés de l'Ordre, on voit un des ses membres de la famille ainsi inscrit à Périgueux: Messire Charles-Pierre-César Picot de Boisfeuillet, ancien capitaine commandant de dragons à Bergerac, lequel vota pour lui, et par procuration, pour le marquis du Gravier de Golce, et pour chevalier de la Valette de Montbrun.
