Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Jean, seigneur de la Motte, seigneur de la Motte, mort en 1654, marié à Guillemette Hus, père et mère de Jean, greffier en chef civil au parlement en 1684, secrétaire du Roi, en 1698, époux de Marie-Josèphe le Clavier, dont: Guy, auteur des seigneurs de la Motte, qui ont produit deux conseillers au parlement depuis 1701, un greffier en chef civil en 1705 et un lieutenant-général des armées navales en 1782, mort en 1791; Louis-Alexandre, auteur des seigneurs de Mélesse et du Boisguy, qui ont produit trois prévôts généraux de la maréchaussée en Bretagne depuis 1718, un greffier en chef civil en 1740; un lieutenant de vaisseau fusillé à Quiberon en 1795 et un maréchal de camp en 1814, mort en 1839.
