Antica ed illustre famiglia proveniente da Moneglia e da Quarto al Mare, dove è un luogo anche oggi detto Pietraroggia. Luchino ambasciatore dei Guelfi* al Re Roberto nel 1331, abate della colonia di Pera nel 1335; Nicolò podestà di Chiavari nel 1343; Malchiorre ambasciatore al Soldano di Egitto ed alla regina di Ungheria nel 1382; Andreolo console della Ragione nel 1492 e 1420. Furono ascritti nei Promontorio nel 1528. *Fazioni politiche medievali, nate in Germania nel XII sec. e poi diffuse in Italia nei due secoli successivi. I nomi derivano da quello della casa tedesca dei Welfen (Guelfi), che sosteneva la casa di Baviera e di Sassonia nella lotta al trono imperiale contro i duchi di Svevia, ai quali apparteneva il castello di Weiblingen (italianizzato in Guaibelinga, da cui Ghibellini).
