Ancient family of Modenese origin, propagated in Rome, whose memories have roots since the Renaissance, despite the oldest traces refer to Palazzo Pighini di Imola, dated 1290 AD. A Pighini, son of Stefano, was created Cardinal of the SR Church by Giulio III, elected cardinal on 20 December 1552, secretary of the memorials and superintendent of all the civil courts of Rome, with the title of Pontifical Vicar. Unfortunately he passed away at the age of 53, on November 22, 1553. The Pighini was born in Arceto, near Scandiano, in the diocese of Reggio. He is remembered in the church of S. Maria del Popolo, in Rome. The family until the eighteenth century had the Palazzo Del Gallo di Roccagiovine, located in Piazza Farnese, in Rome. That the members of the Pighini family are heedless of vulgar things, promising themselves the due reward from their own energies, prove the documents
