Antica e nobile famiglia, detta Giglio, Di Giglio e, più anticamente, Lilio, originaria di Roma, la cui blasonatura è riportata dal commendator G.B. di Crollalanza, nei volumi del suo "Dizionario storico blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane". Tra gli antenati della famiglia Giglio si annovera Luigi Lilio, astronomo e medico nato a Cirò intorno al 1510, che fu l?ideatore assieme al fratello Antonio del calendario gregoriano su incarico di papa Gregorio XIII°, al secolo Ugo Boncompagni. Altro ramo. Antica famiglia bolognese, si antica e nobile tradizione, la quale, tra i molti, fu illustrata da quel Marcantonio, Vescovo di Forlì dal 1578 al 1580. Altro ramo. Antica e nobile famiglia siciliana, la quale godette nobiltà in Palermo e Caltagirone, possedendo, tra i molti, il principato di Lascari. Un dottor Girolamo tenne la carica di giurato di Caltagirone negli anni 1578-79, nel quale anno un dottor Francesco tenne nella stessa città
