Antica famiglia cadorina che si vuol far discendere da Odorico de Pilo, fiorentino, creato cavaliere da Carlo Magno. Comunque essa, passata dal Cadore in Belluno, vi fu scacciata per contese politiche e si rifugiò in Treviso presso i Da Camino coi quali era in tali rapporti da spingere Bernardino Da Camino a sposare l'unica figlia di Antonio P. Ripassati poscia in Cadore quali Vicari dei Caminesi e protetti da questi, ebbero notevole importanza nelle vicende della regione. Caduto il governo Caminese e passate le burrasche che li avevano esiliati, col favore di Venezia rientrarono in Belluno e vi furono ascritti al consiglio nel 1506. Contribuirono col denaro e col sangue alle imprese venete in Oriente e ne ebbero in compenso il titolo di conte con Decreto del Senato del 22 gennaio 1728. La nobiltà di questa casa fu confermata con S.R.A. 19 novembre 1820 ed il titolo comitale con S.
