Erano anticamente negozianti in Valenza Po, da dove si trasferirono a Pietramarazzi e successivamente in Alessandria, dove furono naturalizzati il 4 ottobre 1730. Michelangelo, fu avvocato fiscale nel Consiglio di giustizia di Alessandria. Suo figlio Antonio, che fu intendente generale, fu creato conte il 3 febbraio 1826. Sposò Luisa Caselli, ed i figli nati da queste nozze furono autorizzati ad aggiungere il cognome materno. Figlio primogenito fu Angelo, che ebbe la carica di maggior generale e fece le campagne del 1848, '49, '59, '60, '66 e fu decorato di una medaglia d'argento al valore. Altro ramo. Ramo terzogenito dell'omonima famiglia del Piemonte. Da Carlo (nato in Alessandria, 12 settembre 1821, deceduto Torino, 1 marzo 1881), terzogenito del conte Antonio, che fu tenente generale (1870), comandante del IX Corpo d'Armata (1877) e fece le campagne del 1848, '49, '56, '59, '60, '61, '66, e che sposò Teresa dei marchesi Costabili,
