Antica e nobile famiglia di cui si ha notizia fin dall'anno 1345 con un Filippo, consigliere della regina Giovanna I. Questi, per importanti servizi resi ebbe dalla detta regina il feudo di Ripalonga, devoluto alla Regia Corte per la morte di Enrichetta Sesles; Donadeo, ebbe nell'anno 1459, dal re Ferdinando d'Aragona l'ufficio di segreto della città di Trani, ragione per la quale fu aggregato a quel patriziato, e reintegrato poi, allo stesso con posteriore decreto del S.R.C. del 1533. Decorata del titolo di duca di S. Giovanni e di marchese di S. Leucio, non ancora riconosciuti. Fu ascritta al Registro delle Piazze Chiuse. Riconosciuta con D.P. 30 giugno 1929 nei titoli di patrizio di Trani (maschi) e nobile (femmine). Che i membri della famiglia Pisacani siano noncuranti delle cose volgari, ripromettendosi dalle sole loro energie la dovuta ricompensa, lo provano i documenti fino ad oggi conosciuti come il Dizionario Storico-Blasonico
