Famiglia lombarda, originaria di Alessandria, ove si trovano notizie sin dal secolo XIII e credesi abbia avuto comune origine con la famiglia omonima di Venezia. Il Ghilini negli "Annali di Alessandria" cita i Pisani nel 1225, elencati fra le famiglie ghibelline del quartiere di Borgoglio, e negli anni successivi. Nel 1417 aderirono al partito detto di Casa Ducale cui, per privilegio del duca Filippo Maria Visconti del 9 gennaio di detto anno, era concesso il diritto di portare l'arma dei duchi di Milano. Fecero parte dei 208 del consiglio generale della città; un Martino nel 1470, un altro Martino nel 1541 e 1553, ed Emanuele, suo figlio, nel 1558 furono degli Anziani. Questo Emanuele prese dimora a Milano, fu aggregato a quella cittadinanza e nel 1573 fu ascritto al Collegio dei giureconsulti causidici notarili. Furono suoi figli: Martino, console di giustizia ed abate del predetto collegio e defunto senza lasciare
