Adelsfamilie ursprünglich von der Insel Malta, mit Niederlassung in Valencia. Die Abstammung von Juan de P., der Jury dieser Insel im Jahr 1503, und unter ihren berühmten Männern sticht Pater Francisco P. vom Orden der Prediger hervor und kennt sich in Briefen gut aus. Sein Leben war vorbildlich. Während seiner Zeit in Neapel anlässlich einer Epidemie zeigte er große Nächstenliebe und Eifer gegenüber den geplagten Armen. Aufgrund seiner außergewöhnlichen Eigenschaften beauftragten ihn die Eltern seines Klosters 1667, als Präfekt mit anderen Ordensleuten zu den Missionen der Tartania Minor zu gehen. Er reiste am 4. September dieses Jahres in dieses Königreich und kam drei Monate später nach einer schmerzhaften Reise an. Er wurde von einem Abtrünnigen beschuldigt, ein Spion für den Papst zu sein. In der Weihnachtsnacht wurde er verhaftet, als er die Messe feierte, ins Gefängnis kam und zum Tode verurteilt, vor dem ihn eine Person aus diesem Land rettete.
