Nobile famiglia originaria dell'isola di Malta, con sede a Valencia. Discesa di Juan de P., una giuria di quell'isola nel 1503, e tra i suoi uomini illustri, spicca padre Francisco P., dell'Ordine dei Predicatori e molto ben versato in lettere. La sua vita è stata esemplare. Mentre era a Napoli, in occasione di un'epidemia, mostrò grande carità e zelo per i poveri afflitti. A causa delle sue eccezionali qualità, i genitori del suo convento gli commissionarono, nel 1667, di andare, come prefetto, con altri religiosi, alle missioni del Tartania Minore. Partì per questo regno il 4 settembre di quell'anno e arrivò tre mesi dopo un doloroso viaggio.
