Família nobre originária da ilha de Malta, com filial em Valência. Descida de Juan de P., um júri daquela ilha em 1503, e entre seus homens ilustres, destaca-se o P. Francisco P., da Ordem dos Pregadores e muito bem versado em letras. Sua vida foi exemplar. Enquanto em Nápoles, por ocasião de uma epidemia, ele demonstrou grande caridade e zelo pelos pobres atormentados. Por causa de suas qualidades excepcionais, os pais de seu convento o encarregaram, em 1667, de ir, como prefeito, com outros religiosos, para as missões do Menor de Tartânia. Ele partiu para este reino em 4 de setembro daquele ano e chegou três meses depois, após uma dolorosa viagem. Acusado de ser um espião do papa por um apóstata, ele foi preso na noite de Natal, quando celebrou a missa, levou à prisão e sentenciou à morte, da qual uma pessoa daquele país o salvou, sendo submetido
