Ancient and very noble Apulian family, originally from Salignano, whose earliest memories go back to the 16th century, which spread over the centuries in various regions of Italy and, mainly, in Sicily. A branch of the family also moved to Ruffano at the end of the tenth ninth century and, subsequently, after the death of Prince Leuzzi, who left his inheritance to the firstborn of Luigi Pizzolante, moved to the castle of Ruffano. Giuseppe, the eldest son of the aforesaid, therefore assumed the double surname Pizzolante Leuzzi. But, on the other hand, this family, in spreading its prestige, has always managed to produce a series of men who made his name famous, in public employment and in military service. Among these, without raising the value of the omitted, there are: Filippo, doctor in "utroque jure", flourishing in Salignano, in 1512; Tommaso, doctor in "utroque jure", living in Lecce, in 1521;
