Antiga e muito nobre família piemontesa, de clara e ancestral virtude, que se difundiu mundialmente, ao longo dos séculos. Conhecida como Platineri, Piatineri ou Platinetti, esta ilustre linhagem originou-se na cidade de Pinerolo e possui a mesma agnação dos condes Napioni de Cocconato, conhecidos naquela cidade desde o século XIV. Um ramo dos Napioni, aliás, tomou o nome de Platineri - também atestado nos formulários Piatineri e Platineti - por obrigação do advogado Alessandro Platineri (testamento de 5 de novembro de 1585). A nova linha registou o brasão no ano de 1613. Aliás, esta família, em todas as épocas, sempre se destacou, graças às figuras proeminentes que lhe deram origem.
