Antica famiglia patrizia milanese. Nel corso dei secoli vari rami della stessa si trasferirono in varie regioni d'Italia, donde ne acquisirono la nobiltà e ove furono accolti nelle importanti cariche. L'illustre casata, ottenne il titolo di conte di Nerviano con ordinazione magistrale del 10 luglio 1697, mediante la quale il feudo del detto luogo, insieme col titolo comitale, veniva dato al conte Gaspare Prospero, di Gaspare Uberto, verificata la morte dei fratelli conti Crivelli, i quali, con diploma di re Carlo II del 24 marzo 1681, avevano ottenuto che feudo e titolo potessero passare al cugino Gaspare Uberto. La famiglia ottenne il riconoscimento del titolo di patrizio milanese nel 1787. Il titolo di signore di Garbagnate deriva dall'investitura fatta dalla R. Camera il 25 settembre 1675 allo stesso Gaspare Uberto, in seguito alla refuta del marchese Giovanni Manriquez. Con decreto del Tribunale Araldico del 1773 Gaspare Ferdinando e suo fratello
