Un ramo della famiglia ligure si trasferì a Sarzana verso la metà del 1700 ed in esso si estinse, apportandogli il suo nome, la nobile famiglia Lucciardi con Anna, figlia di Bartolomeo Lucciardi. Documenti conservati nell'archivio famigliare attestano, che questi erano discendenti da un ramo degli antichi Luxardo o Luxardi, oriundi di Val di Taro, che stabilitosi a Genova nel 1300 riparò a Chiavari per guerre intestine nel 1500 e di là a Sarzana alla metà del 1700. Da questa famiglia insignita di titolo marchionale, sortirono in ogni tempo uomini illustri, d'armi, di governo, di chiesa; ultimo il cardinale Domenico, figlio di Bartolomeo, e fratello di Anna, che fu tra l'altro al governo delle quattro legazioni di Bologna, Ferrara, Ravenna e Forlì, presidente della Comarca Romana e morto nel 1864 arcivescovo di Senigallia. Suo padre, Bartolomeo, ebbe pure i patriziati di Ravenna, Spoleto, Tivoli e Camerino. Il suo titolo marchionale
