Famiglia con antiche memorie in Cuneo e di probabile origine lombarda. Si denominavano in antico Luisetti o Luisotti. Si formarono tre linee di questa famiglia: quella dei conti di Coggiola, quella dei signori del marchesato di Ceva, e quella dei marchesi di Campiglia, queste due ultime entrambe estinte, al prima con Luigi (dec. a Torino il 22 giugno 1842), che fu senatore di Chambèry e di Torino, e la seconda con altro Luigi. La linea di Coggiola trae origine da Antonio, che viveva negli inizi del secolo XV. Il figlio di costui Antonio Luisotti fu investito di beni rustici il 29 giugno 1447. Da costui nacque Lodovico Luisotti, che fu dottore di leggi e consigliere del duca di Savoia (1507). Antonio, suo figlio, fu dichiarato della nobiltà di Cuneo "de platea" il 12 maggio 1535.
