Kurzschrift Übername aus dem polnischen pokorny, tschechischen pokorne gleich untertänig, demütig. Die starke Verbreitung des Namens in der Ostmark erklärt sich aus dem Umstand, daß die überwundenen Slawen als Pokorny bezeichnet wurden.
