A família Poli, originária de Sibenik, e se estabeleceu em Veneza em 1033 (ou Polli, De Pol, Polo derivado do nome Paolo), é muito antiga, mas as memórias nos tempos baixos não são numerosas. Conhecemos as vicissitudes e os empreendimentos comerciais dos viajantes venezianos Poli, apenas ilustrados no sábio trabalho do professor cav. uff.
