Ancienne et noble famille lombarde de Milan, ornée du titre noble de comte, avec des branches familiales réparties dans différentes régions du nord. Autre branche. une des familles trévisanes les plus illustres et les plus puissantes, d'origine très ancienne, originaire de Pola. Bonifacio, élu podestat de Trévise en 1269, fut le premier à avoir des relations avec cette ville ; il est historiquement le petit-fils d'un autre Boniface, vivant en 1150, dont descend également ce Monfiorido, seigneur féodal du patriarche d'Aquilée, qui a joué un rôle notable dans l'histoire du patriarcat à cette époque.
