Famous and princely family, which took its name from the Polenta castle, in the Bertinoro territory, which it had received in fief from the Abbot Adorno of the Benedictines of San Giovanni Evangelista in the thirteenth century. It dominated the city of Ravenna for 166 years, to which Cervia and Bertinoro were added. Ostasio, the first known of this house, having turned the Traversari away, became absolute lord of Ravenna, and was succeeded by his son Bernardino.
