Ancienne et illustre famille du nord de l'Italie, connue sous le nom de Policreti ou Policretti, originaire de Trévise. La famille s'installe ensuite à Motta di Livenza, pour arriver ensuite, dans la seconde moitié du XVIe siècle, à Pordenone. Là, elle fut inscrite au conseil noble de la ville en la personne d'Antonio, de feu Gio Maria della Motta. Nous ne pouvons pas préciser le moment de l'enregistrement, en tout cas pas après 1560, année dans laquelle nous trouvons les frères Alessandro et Gio Maria, de feu Antonio, déjà membres du conseil noble. Les fils d'Antonio, Alessandro et Gio Maria, ont lancé deux lignées distinctes. Le premier à celui d'Ornedo, le second à celui de Castel d'Aviano. La famille avait plusieurs sujets dignes de mention.
