Antica ed illustre famiglia del Nord Italia, conosciuta come Policreti o Policretti, originaria di Treviso. La casata si stabilì successivamente a Motta di Livenza, per giungere poi, nella seconda metà del XVI secolo, a Pordenone. Ivi fu iscritta al Consiglio nobile cittadino in persona di Antonio, del fu Gio. Maria della Motta. Non ci è dato precisare l'epoca dell'avvenuta iscrizione, in ogni caso non posteriore al 1560, nel quale anno troviamo i fratelli Alessandro e Gio. Maria, del fu Antonio, già facenti parte del Consiglio nobile. I figli di Antonio, Alessandro e Gio. Maria, diedero principio a due distinte linee. Il primo a quella di Ornedo, il secondo a quella di Castel d'Aviano. La famiglia ebbe diversi soggetti degni di menzione. Il padre servita Giuseppe, del fu Francesco, trevigiano, vivente nel secolo XVI, fu buon poeta ascetico. Antonio, del fu Gio. Maria, fabbricò la chiesa di Ornedo. Altro Antonio fu
