Illustre ed antico casato senese, trapiantatosi in Orvieto, sul calare del secolo decimo terzo, e ritenuto discendente da un Polidoro del Caccia, Nobile Senese. Appartenne a questa famiglia Giovanni di Matteo del Caccia, dell'Ordine dei predicatori, autore di un "Cronicon Generale Ordinis et particulare Conventus Sancti Dominici Urbsveteris". La genealogia documentata e ininterrotta della famiglia prende il suo inizio da Polidoro, di Maestro Luca, di Siena. Nel circondario di Orvieto ebbero inoltre vasti possedimenti, al Palazzo Bovarino, a Ficulle, Fabro, Allerona, Torre Alfina, ecc. ed in città possedettero vari palazzi fra cui quello che fu, prima del 1313 dei Filippeschi e quello dei Magalotti, illustre famiglia Orvietana, passata poi in Toscana. A testimonianza dell'antico splendore di questa famiglia, rimane oggi in questa incantevole città, la torre detta ancora Torre dei Pollidori in Via della Loggia dei Mercanti presso la piazza del Comune. Ebbero cappella gentilizia, rifatta ed abbellita di stemmi
