Il cognome Orsucci fu aggiunto a quello Pollera con decreto reale dl 29 aprile 1926, n. 242, avendo voluto la contessa Maria Orsucci Pollera che il su cognome paterno, che con lei andava ad estinguersi, continuasse nei discendenti suoi del proprio marito Domenico, di Andrea Pollera. Gli Orsucci furono storica famiglia lucchese, nota fin dal secolo XIII, come discendente dai Buon figlioli, signori di Ripafratta, Ostano e Milliano, presenti in Lucca al giuramento di fedeltà prestato a Giovanni di Boema, nel 1331. Seguendo la parte imperiale, divennero potenti nell'alta Versilia e in città, ricoprendo le maggiori cariche durante la Repubblica, il Principato, i Principato e il Ducato lucchese. Bartolomeo, vicario di Pietrasanta, Massa e Luni, prestava nel 1382 una rigente somma alla Repubblica; Andrea fu nel 1400 il primo della famiglia nella serie degli anziani e gonfalonieri, dignità che egli Orsucci ricoprirono fino al 1793; Scarpello tenne come castellano la
