La famiglia P. è originaria di Provenza, donde passò in Firenze; e dal possesso del Castelpulci, trasse il nome. Nelle prove di nobiltà fatte dal Colonnello Luigi P. per ottenere la croce di giustizia dell'Ordine Costantiniano avvi un documento nel quale la Deputazione della Nobiltà di Firenze attesta essere passata in Firenze la famiglia Pulci nell'anno 980, nel qual tempo possedette castelli, torre e loggia nella città di Firenze ed ottenne da Ugo di Brandeburg Luogetenete della Toscana per l'Imperatore Ottone le proprie insegne. Nel secolo XVII la famiglia P. passò in Napoli dove fu alcune volte detta Pollice, ha posseduti feudi nel Reame ed ha vestito l'abito di Malta. Per parentela contratta con la famiglia Doria aggiunge al proprio quel cognome e ne inquarta le armi. Veggonsi Monumenti della famiglia P. in Napoli, e in Firenze. Ha posseduti le Baronie di Castel Pulci, Castel Settimo e Rocchetta; i Marchesati
