Família Campania antiga e muito nobre, de virtude clara e ancestral, que se espalhou ao longo dos séculos em várias regiões da Itália. A origem dessa cognominação, para dizer o mínimo de genealogistas competentes, deve ser procurada no antigo conhecimento romano de mesmo nome. Lembramos, a título de exemplo, tanto Lio Pollio, escritor da história do imperador Augusto e San Pollio, que floresceu no terceiro século depois de Cristo, um cristão martirizado, executado por causa de sua fé. Essa família, no desenrolar de seu brilho, sempre conseguiu produzir uma série de homens que tornaram seu nome ilustre, em empregos públicos, em profissões liberais e eclesiásticas e no serviço militar. Entre eles, sem elevar nada ao valor dos omitidos, destacam-se: Luigi, bravo capitão; Giancarlo, destacado na defesa de Malta contra os turcos, em 1565; dr. Alessandro Maria, Notário Real, morando em Sorrento, em 1591; Tommaso, vereador em Sorrento, morando em 1613;
