De los P. de Cataluña dice algún autor que eran originarios del lugar de P. perteneciente al partido judicial de Cervera y provincia de Lérida, por lo que tomaron su nombre por apellido. Berenguer P. era en 1191 comendador de Vilafranca, en la orden de San Juan, en el Gran Priorato de Cataluña, y en 1192 de Barcelona. Ximén P. también era comendador de Amposta, en la misma Orden, en 1194, y Pedro P., gran prior en 1404 y 1408. Entre las señoras que vistieron el hábito de la Orden de San Juan, en aquel Gran Priorato, figura doña Berenguela P., que vivía entre los años 1330 y 1348. No debió extenderse mucho por Cataluña la familia P., pues son muy escasas las noticias que de ellas se han encontrado.
