Per l'investitura di un carato del feudo di Cesana in favore dei fratelli Giovanni Pietro, Giovanni Giorgio e Carlo Francesco in data 22 agosto, 1788 i suddetti acquisirono il titolo di conti trasmissibile ai discendenti maschi da maschi. Nello stesso giorno i tre fratelli vennero iscritti nell'A.L.T. Con D.M. 12 gennaio 1925, il titolo di conte di Cesana venne riconosciuto a: Bernardo, n. Ferrara 13 febbraio 1903, di Orlando, di Bernardo Giuseppe e di Bice Pinocchi. Molte famiglie posero la loro dimora in Bologna, perchè considerata ne' tempi più remoti famosa trà le Repubbliche, per il valore de' suoi Capitani, per la dottrina de' suoi Giureconsulti, per i molti Rettori di diverse città, e per l'autorità de' suoi Magistrati.
