Il comune di Tortona ha dedicato una via alla memoria di Obizzo P. il quale unitamente al congiunto Martino, e Francesco Opizzoni era preposto alla difesa della Porta San Luca durante l'assedio di Federico Barbarossa nell'Aprile del 1155: sostenne valorosamente per lungo tempo ripetuti assalti del nemico, cento volte superiore per uomini e mezzi, finché fu da questi sopraffatto. E con tale glorioso esordio s'apre la prima pagina che inizia la cronologia della famiglia P. Dopo la resa che imponeva l'esodo di tutti gli abitanti dalla città i Pomodoro si ritirarono in terre vicine da cui rimpatriarono dopo circa un quarto di secolo: difatti il 29 novembre 1181 Michele P. è teste in atto relativo a terreni situati nel territorio tortonese concessi in enfiteusi dall'abate di S. Begnino ad Albertino Varzi; Tebaldo, come rilevasi da un documento del 10 gennaio 1186, era canonico diacono del Capitolo della cattedrale di Tortona,
