Antica ed assai nobile famiglia di Siracusa, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. D’altronde, tal famiglia, nel dispiegarsi dei lustri, sempre è riuscita a produrre una serie di uomini che hanno reso illustre il suo nome, nei pubblici impieghi, nelle professioni liberali ed ecclesiastiche e nel servizio militare. Fra questi, senza nulla levar al valore degli omessi, contasi: Antonio, che tenne la carica di giurato in detta città negli anni 1437, 1440, 1443 e fu barone di metà di Caddeddi e Bufalefi; feudo confermato a 12 luglio 1453 al figlio di lui Giovan Nicolò, che fu giurato in Siracusa negli anni 1473, 1483, 1486; Pietro, che, per la moglie Almisenda Moresco, possedette il feudo di San Giacomo di Belmineo nel 1516; Alessandro, dottore in l'una e l'altra legge, fiorente in Siracusa, nel 1522; P. Anselmo, dell'Ordine dei Predicatori, fiorente nel 1567; Luigi, giurato
