Por decreto del 26 de marzo de 1650 de los Representantes de la República de Venecia en Verona, decreto preservado en el original en los Archivos Estatales de Pisa, se aprobó el árbol genealógico presentado por Francesco, calificado como ciudadano de Verona, un árbol que a partir de Bergo alcanzó el mencionado Francis, llegando a reconocer en él la descendencia de la histórica familia pisana, que desde 1320 había disfrutado del supremo honor de los Ancianos. A favor de Giulio, de Giuseppe Pontedera, que había intentado descender por una línea masculina recta desde dicho Francesco, el título de patricio pisano fue reconocido por decreto ministerial del 26 de julio de 1904, transmisible a los descendientes legítimos y naturales de ambos sexos. Otra rama Originaria de Pisa, donde sostuvo en los siglos XIV y XV las posiciones conspicuas de anciano y anterior, fue trasplantada a Verona por un Lorenzo di Gabriele

D'argento, alla saracinesca di rosso, tenuta per la traversa superiore da una branca di leone (oppure una mano) d'oro posta in capo.

Blasone della famiglia Pontedera; fonte: "Raccolta Ceramelli Papiani" custodita presso l'archivio di stato di Firenze fasc.6307. Note: Si trova anche la forma Pontaderi. La figura presente è molto simile a una scala, e così è descritta dal Crollalanza. Alcuni membri della famiglia si trasferirono nel XVI secolo a Verona, cambiando il cognome in Pisa.
