Gli autori di nobiliari fiorentini tra cui non ultimi l' Ademollo Andrea e Marietta de' Ricci, che nella loro opera tramandata a noi del 1845 " Firenze al tempo dell'assedio. Racconto storico con note genealogiche sulle famiglie fiorentine, correzioni ed aggiunte, del Cavalier Luigi Passerini", stampato in Firenze, Chiari nel 1845, assicurano essere questa famiglia proveniente dalle terre di Siena. Tal famiglia per come riferisce il Gamurrini nell' Istoria genealogica delle famiglie nobili Toscano et Umbro, stampato in Firenze dal Sanesi nel 1641 al volume 6, prende origine già dal XIV secolo.
