La famiglia fu assunta al priorato di Cortona nel 1543 in persona di Vangelista, di Bernardo; la stessa carica sostennero dopo di lui i suoi discendenti, i quali, nel 1638, vestirono per giustizia l'abito di cavaliere di S. Stefano, con Oreste, di Michelangelo. Da Anton Francesco, di Cosimo, ammesso al patriziato cortese con decreto della R. Deputazione sulla nobiltà e cittadinanza in Toscana del 5 giugno 1758, nacquero Giuseppe e Girolamo. Giuseppe è autore del ramo rappresentante, di Oreste Maria Giuseppe; Girolamo è autore dell'altro ramo, al quale appartenne Girolamo, di Niccolò, di Girolamo (1832-1924), erudito e storico di valore e Deputato al Parlamento nazionale per la IX e X legislatura. Il figlio di Girolamo, Niccolò, aggiunse per successione i cognomi Ridolfini e Corazzi.
