Antica e nobile famiglia, che aveva le sue case alla Suburra e nel rione della Pigna. In quest'ultima casa, dove ancora si vede scolpito lo stemma descritto, abitò Stefano Porcari che cospirò contro il Sommo Pontefice Nicola V per togliergli Roma e farne una repubblica. Scoperto venne impiccato con altri nove complici (1453). Fino dal 1391 Nicolò di Pietro Porcari fu Conservatore. Coprirono questa carica anche Antonio (1413), Paolo (1432), Antonio (1479) e Giulio (1620). Nel 1468 Antonio ed Evangelista, acquistarono la terra di Torre Marrancia o della Peschiera. Giulio di Francesco, nel 1490 comprò la terra di Castiglione. Cornelio di Battista, che nel 1485 abitava nel rione di Parione, fece una permuta del Casale de' Pazzi con Cola di Paolo Porcari del rione della Pigna. La famiglia era estinta all'epoca della Bolla Benedettina. Altro ramo. Di origine romana, si stabilì in Sicilia nel 1447 nella persona di Filippo P.
