Antica e nobile famiglia di Tolentino, ma originaria da Sant'Andrea. Si hanno sue notizie a Tolentino fin dal 1430 con un Caterbo, vivente nel 1430. Cornelio fu notaro e podestà di Serra San Quirico nel 1601. Dette alla patria illustri personaggi, che occuparono le prime cariche e magistrature fin dagli antichi tempi. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Nobiliare Ufficiale Italiano con il titolo di patrizio di Tolentino (maschi e femmine). Altro ramo. Antica famiglia, originaria di Firenze, chiamata prima Porcelli, prese poi l'attuale nome dalla località omonima di cui era signora. Di parte ghibellina dovette emigrare dalla madre patria, e nel 1290 un Enrico Porci prese parte alla fazione di Spoleto col celebre Ugoccione della Faggiuola, e quindi nel 1315 Porcellino e Rodolfo, figli di Rigo Porco, dovettero emigrare anche dalla seconda patria.
