Porras o Porres, indudablemente estos dos apellidos son uno mismo la variante de la vocal no implica difeferencia de orígen ni de linaje. Obedece, sin duda a que en la antiguedad a los noble pertenecientes a esta familia se les llamaba, indistitamente, Porras y de Porres. La documentación que utilizamos para poder afirmar de forma rotunda esta dualidad es: la torre fuerte (castillo), estaba situada en el lugar denominado Cidad de Val de Porras que dió nombre a dicho apellido, era perteneciente a la merindad de Vl de Porras situado en el partido judicial de Villarcayo (provincia de Badajoz) hemos de hacer constar que dicha población se escribió y se escribe Valdeporras.
