Famiglia chiarissima in Como fin dal sec. XIV per nobiltà di sangue, lustro di alleanze matrimoniali e cariche pubbliche. Era già in Asnago, nella pieve di Fino, verso il 1250, donde passò a Lentate, quindi a Como, con ampi possedimenti in Asnago, Cermenate, Copreno, Carimate, Lentate e Como. Francesco, figlio di Berardo, con istrumento 3 aprile 1705, a rogito di Carlo Pia, notaio Camerale, acquistò il feudo di Asnago, che con diploma 5 sett. 1710 fu decorato da Carlo III, re di Spagna e duca di Milano, del titolo marchionale con successione primogeniale mascolina, e, in mancanza di maschi, per una femmina, una volta tanto. Un secolo dopo, con Lettere Patenti date a Fontainebleau l'11 ott. 1810, Napoleone I concesse al suo "caro ed amato" signor Luigi Renato, membro del Collegio Elettorale dei Possedimenti e cavaliere dell'Ordine della Corona di Ferro, il titolo di conte del Regno d'Italia.
