Antica famiglia veronese, che esercitò per lungo tempo e fino dalla sua origine la funzione di notaio. Se ne ha notizia come ascritta al campione dell'estimo fino dal 1409 nella persona di Enricus notarius. Fino dal 1287 era in possesso di feudo prediale in Isolalta per investitura Scaligera. Questa possessione, unitamente ad altri beni, fu dalla famiglia ceduta al Fisco Veneto, che la eresse in contea nobile, investendola alla famiglia con Decreto del Senato 25 febbraio 1750. Dal 1439 era altresì ascritta al nobile Consiglio di Verona. Ottenne conferma austriaca di nobiltà con S.R. 10 ottobre 1918. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobile Italiano coi titoli di nobile (maschi e femmine) e conte (maschi), in persona di Lodovico, di Lodovico, di Felice (nato 5 maggio 1879).
