Sehr adelige Familie, die das Vicenza-Komitee seit Beginn des zehnten Jahrhunderts als einer der einflussreichsten Vasallen des Bischofs dominierte und zum Adelsrat von Vicenza zusammengefasst wurde, der sich im Laufe der Jahrhunderte in verschiedenen Regionen Italiens und der Welt ausbreitete. Die am meisten anerkannten Hypothesen gehen davon aus, dass die Familie aus Portogruaro stammte, als Ulderico, der Ketzerei beschuldigte Patriarch von Aquileia, aus der Lagune vertrieben wurde und nach seiner Flucht zahlreiche Adelsfamilien gezwungen waren, auf das Festland zu ziehen. Der erste Charakter der Familie, von dem wir in Vicenza Kenntnis haben, ist ein Porto da Porto, Jurisconsult, der im Jahr 987 blühte. Unter Kaiser Heinrich V. von Franken hatte der Porto für die vielen Verdienste um das Reich das Privileg, sich einzufügen in der Familienwaffe der Reichsadler. Karl V. von Bologna stellte am 14.
