Família Brescia de nobreza antiga. Parece que antes do século. XIII foi chamado Posculi, além de querer fazer o brasão falar em língua latina e francesa, mas um ramo veio do castelo de Cazzago, nas colinas a oeste de Brescia, e recebeu o nome, também para se diferenciar dos demais. Parte Ghibelline. O primeiro a aparecer com esse nome é Ugo, morando por volta de 1200, o pai de Rodolfo que aparece em um ato de 1278 e que talvez seja o irmão de Bertolino que durante algum tempo foi o chefe dos gibelinos brescianos (1268). De sua esposa Antoniola Poncarali, Rodolfo teve: Domofollo, cônsul de Brescia, de onde nasceu um filho com o mesmo nome, pai de Gelmo (Guglielmo).
