Nome di una onoratissima schiatta di navigatori e commercianti liguri, che si incontra fin dal 1224 in atto di maestro Salmone: "Sacri Palatii notarii", in cui si attesta che il 22 marzo di quell'anno, un tale Salvo ha dato a mutuo 24 soldi di Genova a Raimondo de Pratolungo. Nella chiesa di S. Sirio esiste la tomba del magnifico Nicolò. In atti del 1587 è nominato un Bartolomeo. Frequenti furono i parentadi stretti dalla famiglia con donzelle straniere, principalmente di famiglie di Lisbona, come Turpia e Metella, in conseguenza delle relazioni commerciali della famiglia. Un Sebastiano fu tenente nelle guardie nobili. Raffaele ai tempi nostri, fu sindaco di Genova. Nel 1813 un degno figlio di questa casata, Vincenzo, negoziante integerrimo sposò Teresa Oliva, come cantano vari epitalami amorosamente conservati in famiglia. Questa fu donna di alto sentire, che rimasta vedova nel fiore dell'età, si dedicò ai figli e alle opere
