Questa famiglia, che ha il cognome di un'isola del circondatario di Zara, ed è originaria da quei luoghi, ebbe la contea di Prevasto. Bernardo era cavaliere di S. Giorgio, ed avo di un altro Bernardo sazador di zecca (1614). Vennero a Venezia nel 1440, dove incotrarono parentele con le famiglie cittadinesche Purini, Ferrandi, Veraldi, Fedeli, ecc. Tomaso, approvato cittadino originario il 10 gennaio 1670, seguì, come segretario, l'ambasciatore Gerolamo Foscarini a Parigi ed in Spagna da dove nel settembre 1685 scrisse al Ser.mo Principe di Venezia che il Signori Giovanni Battista Semenzi ha risolto crearimi suo figlio adottivo mentre si ritrova in età settuagenaria senza prole e lo ha avuto fare con condizione che io prenda il suo cognome Semenzi, e spogliando sè stesso... delle sue sostanze a me lo somministra con darmi obbligo di offerire alla Serenità Vostra 100 mila ducati, per essere ammesso con i miei congiunti e
