Familia muy antigua y noble, que extrae sus orígenes más antiguos de la ciudad de Bérgamo. Allí, de hecho, en 1333 vivió un Giovanni, de Oberto, oriundo di Presate, o lugar de Bérgamo, del cual la familia tomó su nombre. El mencionado Giovanni fue un compilador de las leyes de la ciudad de Bérgamo y uno de los Nobles Concilios de Savi.
