Fra i vassalli di Trento troviamo già nel XIII, XIV e XV secolo nominati i Preti, o Pret di Val di Non e Val di Sole. Il cardinale Cristoforo Madruzzo concesse al Antonio Pretio, con diploma del 9 genn. 1540, di usare uno stemma e precisamente D'Azzurro a tre berrette da prete d'argento ordinate 2 e 1. Con diploma del 22 agosto 1742 il principe vescovo Domenico Antonio Thun concesse a Nicolò, di Nicolò ed a Nicolò, di Andrea de Pretis la nobiltà episcopale trentina. Finalmente con diploma dato a Vienna l'8 sett. 1768 il dott. Antonio de Pretis venne creato nobile col predicato di Cagnò ed il diritto di portare lo stemma qui sopra riportato. Questa linea è estinta. Antonio de Pretis ottenne la conferma austriaca della nobiltà in data 14 marzo 1827 anche per i fratelli Andrea e Giuseppe mentre Sisinio l'ottenne nel 1847. Questi venne creato barone
