Antica famiglia originaria di Bergamo, si à memoria di essa fin dal 1333 in cui viveva un Giovanni figliuolo di Oberto da Prezzate (luogo nel Bergamasco), il quale fu compilatore delle leggi della città di Bergamo ed uno del Consiglio de'savj. A Bergamo fu parimenti illustre Gabriele P., medico dotto, lettore nell'Università di Bologna nel 1477, aggregato in patira nel 1485 al cospicuo Collegio dei medici, ed autore di varie opere di medicina. Un Marcantonio P., figlio di Graziolo nel 1537 trapiantò la propria famiglia in Venezia; alla cui cittadinanza originaria fu tosto aggregata. Il di lui figlio Lorenzo da Clemente VIII fu creato Vescovo di Chioggia nel 1601. La famiglia fin dal 1757 fu aggregata al Consiglio nobile di Bergamo, e riconfermata nella sua nobiltà con sovrana risoluzione 10 Ottobre 1819.
