Acreditado por alguns autores como originário de Pisa, passou para a área napolitana no século XIII. Patrício de Salerno nas praças de Campo e Portaretese e patrício de Lucera. Ele deu à Igreja um papa: Urbano VI (13789), nascido Bartolomeo, filho de Nicolò e Margherita Brancaccio. Foram recebidos, por justiça, no SMO de Malta em 1578 como quarto da família Strambrone; e o Prignano di Sanseverinos em 1598 como o quarto da família Ruggi; e novamente as de Salerno em 1730 como quartel do comendador Gennaro Salerno, tendo feito prova disso pela primeira ombreira de Roberto em 1485. Foi inscrita no Registro de Praças Fechadas. A presença do lema na bibliografia documental da família confirma a nobreza ancestral da família. De facto, a origem do lema remonta cerca do século XIV e deve ser procurada naqueles ditos espirituosos que eram escritos nos estandartes ou estandartes dos cavaleiros, expostos nas janelas
