Antichissima ed assai nobile famiglia ungherese, originariamente detta de' Priori, poscia de Prioli, indi Priuli e di nuovo Priori, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Europa. In particolare la famiglia si trasferì in Venezia, verso la metà del secolo ottavo, ed i suoi membri, nel 1110, in persona di Silvestro, cavaliere e capitano nella Prima Crociata, figlio di Zaccaria, priore d'Ungheria, figlio a sua colta di Michele, princ. d'Ungheria della famiglia degli Arpad, il quale, inviato dalla corona d'Ungheria a Venezia per importanti maneggi col Senato vi fermò la su residenza, e dei suoi discendenti, vennero compresi fra gli ottimati per le loro benemerenze militari nella guerra di Palestina. Vennero riconfermati alla serrata del Maggior Consiglio nel 1297 in tale qualificazione. Tre individui di questa illustre casato furono Dogi: Lorenzo Savio agli ordini, ambasciatore a Carlo V, che fu creato doge nel 1556. Morì nel 1559, fu sepolto
