Antica famiglia di Benevento, alla quale è per tradizione sia appartenuto Roscimanno Proscio, vescovo di detta città che al tempo di re Ruggero fu rimosso dalla dignità episcopale, avendo seguito la parte dell'antipapa Anacleto. Angelo, vescovo di Alife, pure della stessa famiglia, prese parte al Consiglio provinciale di Bologna nel 1565. Aggregata al Patriziato di Benevento nel 1626 in persona di Giovanni, ne godette fino all'epoca della abolizione dei Sedili. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Ufficiale Nobiliare Italiano col titolo di patrizio di Benevento (maschi e femmine), in persona di Carlo, di Giovanni Battista, e dei figli di lui: Virginia, Maria e Giovanni, ed è rappresentata da Carlo, di Giovanni Battista (nata 13 marzo 1804), e di Virginia Dentice dei duchi di Accadia (n. 1803, defunta 1863), spos. 7 settembre 1865 con Giuseppina Nuzzo-Mauro. Figli: Giovanni: (nata 16 novembre 1866); Virginia (nata 10 giugno 1872), Maria (nata 16 ottobre 1873).
