Noblesse d'épée du Bourbonnais, fixée dans le diocèse du Puy avec Charles (fils d'autre Charles et de Marie d'Apchier) seigneur de Buffant, marié le 19 janvier 1605 à Diane de Vertamy dame de Montagnac près Sereys. Louis, écuyer, seigneur de Montagnac, leur fils, allié le 8 janvier 1645 à Louise de la Colombe d'Artites, fut maintenu en Auvergne, le 16 mars 1668, sur preuves de cinq générations remontant à autre Louis écuyer, seigneur dudit lieu en 1490, époux de Philiberte de Trizible. Antoine seigneur de Montagnac (fils de Louis et de Louise de la Colombe) épousa en 1678 Madeleine de la Rochenégly et laissa d'elle, entre autres: Jean (1680); Christophe (1683-1704); et Antoine, marié en deuxièmes noces à Anne de Chambarlhac. Gabrielle (1647-1712), s'allia le 8 mai 1674 à André Veny d'Arbouze, notaire ordinaire de Nay, lieutenant de la baronnie de Sereys. Autre personnages: divers officiers, dont un capitaine au XVIIème siècle, dans le régiment d'Infanterie-Polignac.
